New Zealand World Cup roster revealed: no current NBA players covered

The Westland Men's National Basketball Team today announced its 12-man roster for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. There are no current NBA players on the roster, marking the first time in Team New Zealand's history that the team will not have a current NBA player at the World Cup.

New Zealand's head coach is Greg Pittman. Pittman took over the reins of the New Zealand team in 2021 and has led the team through the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, finishing first in the group and advancing to the main round.

Brooke Knox is the centerpiece of New Zealand's 12-man squad for the World Cup. Knox, who currently plays for Verona in the Italian league, is New Zealand's all-round player who can play in a number of positions.

In addition, New Zealand has a number of other strong players, including former NBA player Iman Shumate, former NBA Development League player Charles Grant and rookie Kyle Jones.

New Zealand will be grouped with Germany, Argentina and Brazil in the World Cup group stage. The New Zealand team, which has no current NBA players, is aiming to reach the World Cup's Elite Eight.
