Knicks will try to keep Quigley amid calls for early extension

New York reporter Ian Begley has written an article about Quigley's early extension.

In the article, Begley writes, "Sources tell me there are some on the Knicks who strongly believe the team will extend Quickley early in the middle of the 2022-23 season. Of course, things will play out one way or another during the negotiations, but I think the Knicks will do what they have to do because the player has exceeded the team's expectations for him in every way."

Prior to being traded to the Knicks, Quickley was selected by the Thunder with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft. Under the collective bargaining agreement, he is eligible for an early contract extension with the team this summer.

During the 2022-23 season, Quickley appeared in 81 regular season games for the Clippers, averaging 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, and eight playoff games, averaging nine points, 1.6 rebounds and one assist per game.

The Clippers' performance was well received by Knicks fans and media. He is a leader for the Knicks' young players and an important part of the team's future.

The Knicks offered Quigley a contract worth about $20 million, and negotiations between the two sides are ongoing.
